been married 20 years , one kid in college ,house almost payed for.wife has drinking problem and I don't want to deal with it any more .We both work but I make about 3x's more.Can I keep my house {i've made ever payment and pay every bill]how screwed amI on alimony {want to retire in about 5 to 10 years] Any thoughts or suggestions

Sure you can keep the house but will pay for it 2 times as she will get 50% of the equality in it. If you state has AL yes you will be paying that as well unless she does not want it. think that will happen
Basically your going to take a big hit .Just because you made the $$$ does not mean you keep the $$$

To keep the house you will have to pay her for the half of it she owns. You will also have to share any retirement/savings funds with her 50-50.

If she works full time and is not nearing retirement age (or she is receiving a significant retirement settlement) and you live in a man-friendly state/jurisdiction you should start your negotiations by offering no alimony.

anyone have a clue how georgia figures alimony ? i know all property and savings is 50/50 but it seems as if she gets her 50 and then i end up paying her my 50 over time wtf.
