50 yr old male; wife 38. No kids; married 20 yrs. My income 70K, hers is 50K. 2 homes but she is screaming for big dollar alimony. I hear Mass. is brutal. Any advice, etc.

Wow that's odd that she somehow thinks she deserves any alimony at all. her income is nearly what yours is. It's not like it's fair for you to have to pay to give her a higher lifestyle than you can afford after paying her.

Have you checked with a lawyer to find the answer? Has SHE? I can't imagine that Massachusetts courts are so far off from the normal thinking on this, though it's possible.

The only factor indicating alimony is the length of the marriage. Otherwise it is a non-starter - she's young and clearly able to support herself and she'll get one of the houses in the divorce.
