I am wondering how some of you have gone about "sharing" expenses for kids that are in a joint custody situation. I have not filed yet, but my lawyer said it looks like there wont be any financial support on either side.
So what is the best way to share expenses for both bigger things like tuition (private school) lessons, school trips, etc.... on down to small things that are jsut misc. weekly expenses?
I have wondered about keeping a joint checking account that we could both fund evenly. But I could also she this as a big point of contention of what "legitamit" expnses are. Is it better to each just keep receipts and "settle up" a couple of times a year?
Most people settle up monthly. For some protection, it's best for each to pay some of the stuff, and work it out at the end of the month. There is some risk, if you pay all of it every month, if the other parent continually flakes out.
