Can you get a different Judge for a divorce & Custody?

My lawyer said to wait on my husband to file for divorce, but while I am waiting its just getting messy. Should I go ahead and file?

Can you get legal seperation papers?

Can you get legal visitation papers drawn up until the divorce hearing?

In my state, if you have a judge assigned, they remain your judge forever....even 10 years down the line, if they are still on the bench.

Perhaps you can talk to a different attorney. Why does he/she want you to wait?
