I already understand how companies work. I also understand that unlike many other countries we as citizens have a right to not buy into them. Most big companies make all there money by the a margen of only a couple of cents, but if your doing huge valums then it you can turn a huge profit.

That's one side of the capitalist coin, and there are many honest businessmen who struggle daily to make an honest profit. On the other hand, there are all the Enrons, Worldcoms, etc., which are only the tip of the iceberg representing abusive and semi-legal practices in the business world.
The junk-mortgage meltdown we are now facing is the latest such scandal, which demonstrates the embarrassing eagerness of our present government to bend over backwards to avoid proper regulation of business, to the benefit of the same businessmen who also contribute heavily to the election campaigns of the politicians responsible for the lack of regulation, and to the great risk of the customers of these businesses, their employees and investors, and the economy itself.
Another such outrage I recently heard about is the fact that while Texas now has essentially unregulated, "competitive" electric energy suppliers, Oklahoma still regulates this industry. The result, as nearly as I can recall the article in which I read this, is that Oklahoma residents pay about half of what Texas residents do per kw/hr. Go figure.
The thing that all of this has to do with divorce is that the same simplistic, irresponsible, naive and self-serving approach by politicians and judges is also seen in this area of law, as in the others referred to.

Then you should know the depths that many corporations will go to elevate their share price, including criminal activity. It's a vicious cycle as we can opt out in buying from them, but then who WILL you buy from? The Walmarts of the world are already putting most ma-and-pa stores out of business by low-balling prices.
Of course, you can elect to go homeless, too, and rely on your government to "save" you.
I think you understand how companies work from a general public's understanding, and maybe even more than that, but once you really dig into how corporations have slowly wedged themselves into our everyday lives - including their powerful influence on our decision makers - it becomes horrifying.
I'm not saying they should be eliminated as they DO do good, but just defang them a bit.

Exactly. And not only will the general public suffer due to the economic turmoils this mess has created, but we as tax payers will ultimately "pick up the tab" for many of these company's mistakes. A double whammy.
I heard a quote a few weeks ago from someone in the analyst business that basically said many of these powerful corporations have a win-win policy - that is, they institute ridiculous schemes and if it turns out great, THEY win, and if it turns out terrible, the taxpayers will bail them out, and THEY win again.

Yes, and the real disgrace is that this is exactly what they are TAUGHT to do in business and marketing courses. They learn to only take risks with Other People's Money along with marketing language like "free", "guaranteed' to deliver 'up to" (insert desired item, quantity, etc.), "You have been chosen ...", "I will give you $5000 for your old car, running or not...", blah, blah, blah.
It is all good sounding nonsense designed to exploit the unwary, along with the similarly good-sounding nonsense of most divorce law ("marriage is a partnership", "the court must do what is in the best interest of the child", etc., which at first hearing might also sound good to the men who eventually become its victims!

Prosocuted for infidelity??????????? Give me a break. It is that kind of primitave thinking that is destroying our once great country. When will we learn to govern ourselves. The beurocracy we have already created is corrupt to the core and people like you just want to give the government more ability to control our lives unjustly. What is next death sentences for masturbation. Get Real

Oh my, The more I read the more you make me laugh. "video games" increase hand eye coordination, spacial recognition, and analytical thinking. They due such a great job studies show that surgeons who play are vastly more adept at surgery. Results Past video game play in excess of 3 h/wk correlated with 37% fewer errors (P<.02) and 27% faster completion (P<.03). Overall Top Gun score (time and errors) was 33% better (P<.005) for video game players and 42% better (P<.01) if they played more than 3 h/wk. Current video game players made 32% fewer errors (P=.04), performed 24% faster (P<.04), and scored 26% better overall (time and errors) (P<.005) than their nonplaying colleagues. When comparing demonstrated video gaming skills, those in the top tertile made 47% fewer errors, performed 39% faster, and scored 41% better (P<.001 for all) on the overall Top Gun score. Regression analysis also indicated that video game skill and past video game experience are significant predictors of demonstrated laparoscopic skills.
Conclusions Video game skill correlates with laparoscopic surgical skills. Training curricula that include video games may help thin the technical interface between surgeons and screen-mediated applications, such as laparoscopic surgery. Video games may be a practical teaching tool to help train surgeons. AMA.

Alright, but they're not of any other good that I can discover, except to keep a developing mind epoxied to a brighly glowing, colorful display for EVEN MORE hours a day, after already being there all day at work or school, watching television when they arrive home, doing more normal computer work at home and then finishing up with the games!
Is it any wonder that with this much excessive stimulation of the visual and cerebral cortex more people than ever before need sleep medication?
Laugh!
