Unlike child support, spousal support is often very difficult (if not impossible) to modify after the divorce is final, so getting it right the first time is a must!
My wife filed a "cause to show" for temporary spousal/child support. The judge set my support as $740 child support and $740 spousal support. The courts are jammed and I may not get a trial date until the fall. We were only married 8 months. I only bring home $2200. How is this possible? I have to move into to my parents house, and will have to rent our residence since the judge put a freeze on the residence. Will my wife have to pay me for anything over the 4 months that are typical? My son is 6 months old.

It is not uncommon for alimony to be awarded in a short-term marriage for the duration of the divorce process.
Given that the marriage was only 8 months long, I doubt that alimony will be ordered beyond the divorce. It is doubtful that she will have to pay you back. This is a temporary order.
