We have decided to send our son to camp for a month this summer. There is a pretty significant cost (over $5,000) that we agreed to split. Well, we didn't really agree, she told me I had to pay half or he couldn't go. Since he will be gone for a month, should I even ask to suspend one month of child support (over $1,200)? My ex makes 4 times what I do so there isn't a financial burden for her. All of his expenses for that month will have been prepaid with the camp fee. I could still pay his insurance premium.

I don't know if I should just suck it up and pay her the child support for that month or ask to have it waived.

I doubt that you will get out of paying the child support.

How are extracurricular activities addressed in your court order? In mine, the payment is in proportion to our incomes. In other words, the one who makes more pays more.

You have to pay childsupport even if the kids are somewhere else. Child support isn't figured monthly but yearly then devided by 12. As expensive as the camp is I think you need to have some imput on that.

I would agree to pay less your child support amount and then pay the child support. That way, she gets the $2500, but it is clear that you are paying CS.
