How long must the custodial parent wait before they can ask for a modification once the support figure has been set by the court? Let's say the amount was set last month, could she turn around in two months and request more money? or Will she have to wait another year or two or three?

Existing awards are subject to review every 3 years . Modification proceedings can be commenced as requested by either party .

Check with the CS office in your area... in my state (NC) you can file for modification every 3 years OR if there is a 15% change in circumstances.

They say either party can request a modification if a 15% change occurs. I guess that is to include the amount of child support or custody that has changed. However, when I was in court in Sevierville, TN she and I had a disagreement on how much money should be added to the CS amount for Child Care. Our son had been in daycare 1-2 days a week for 4-5 months, but she was requesting the court to base it on 5 days a week because she was thinking of putting him in full time. The DA agreed at first, and I questioned if we were going on what she "thought" would happen, or on past events, like everything else was computed. The DA agreed to keep it at 1-2 days, but told her that she could come in ANY time if he started going more and they'd raise it. I found it predictable that she did not tell me I could come in at ANY time if he went to daycare less and they would lower it. I was nice too, and my baby's mama was a jerk to the DA. What an unfair system, such a conflict of interest!
