Just starting the process need help!!!!!!!

I have been married for 17 years and am 43 year young. I worked for GM and recently took the buyout they offered for health reasons. We paid off his car and motorcycle and bills and two days later he says he wants a divorce. I told him that I want the money I forked out for his toys and he tell me that I paid them of my own free will!!! I live close to monroe Mi can anyone tell me of a good lawyer and would the items that I paid be marital expenses and I should get at least half back?????

In Michigan you will be granted 50% value of the items in question. Start getting the bluebook value of them. As far as a lawyer goes it's a crap shoot. The better more aggressive lawyer usually holds court.

Got a good Lawyer, he is a former Army JAG lawyer and says my soon to be ex has lost his mind if he thinks he will get away with everything paid off!!!!! and not spliting it
