Going with my daughter to CS mediation tomorrow. What should we expect? Can the mediator force us to agree to anything?

If you have a lawer you can take them but they can't give advice. Nobody can make you agree to anything, but be assured that if you do not then what the judge gives will probly be less then you want.

Our concern is he quit a $12/hr full time job with benefits a month after the baby was born and is now working $10/hr part time job without any benefits. I am having to carry the baby on my insurance. I don't want all the burden placed on my daughter and me. (I am not letting my grandson go without( for those who will reply its not my burden)
How does the meeting go? Does each side present a case?
How do they handle visitation of a 3 month old? He makes no effort to see the baby now. The only time he sees him is if my daughter takes the baby to see him which is a 120 mile round trip. Last time he told her to come and then wasn't home. He has been caught in multiple lies and was abusive in the past. He wanted her to have a baby since he wasn't her first and it would show she loved him and then he bailed.
I want to be fair but I want him to man up to his responsibity. Yes I know my daughter was stupid getting pg but that's now water under the bridge.
Just wanting to know what to expect and any advice?

Also, can we ask for help paying the hospital bills related to the baby's birth?

Texas standerd child support is I think 20%. My X pays less. Half of all medical (birthing encluded) and all insurance.
If your grand daughter is on your plan then he either has to provide it or pay you the extra for having her on the plan.
As far as I know in Texas (my home state) there is no special rule for enfants. If you live 100 miles or less then he gets a few hours on thursdays and every 1st, 3rd and 5th weekend (starting on friday). Plus 30 days in the summer. Because your granddaughter is pre-school then it will be based on the school district she lives in.
Forgot all of Texas school start and end at the same time now.
Oh and good for your daughter going over there but with the gas prices like they are he needs to be helping. He should be paying gas or coming over there some.
Sorry if I keep adding but I keep thinking of things. Othes on the forum will say a baby that a baby needs more time with dad then that but for shorter periods. correct me if I'm wrong "Jada". I'm starting to see the point to this.

My advice (especially if you are in Tx--Victoria County) DO NOT go. It was a joke. They did not mediate anything and basically my daughter got screwed. The woman kept getting up and leaving to answer other questions not related to our case. She didn't know basic information and had to be reminded about medical fees and visitation. I'm not even sure the paperwork is filled out right but I guess we are stuck with it as my daughter signed it. They would not let me attend with her so she didn't know what to object to. She just turned 18.
