My ex and I have been divorced for two years. My ex and I have agreed for me to refinance the house so that the "VA" certificate which is under his name can be released. Even though I am not required to do so at this time, I agreed. However, there are things that I would like changed in the Judgment of Dissolution of Marriage....minor things. Do you know if I'll have to hire an attorney and have a formal document filed with the court, or can I draft a document....have both of us sign it and notarized and be done with it? Any help would be appreciated.

You'll have to submit an amended agreement to the court for the judge's signature , a notarized agreement isn't legally binding . You can use a paralegal to save on legal fees .

In IL, you can do an agreed order. You both sign it and then file it to get notarization.
