Divorce Support Forums: can i get spousal support
The Spousal Support Handbook The Spousal Support Handbook ($28.99)
Unlike child support, spousal support is often very difficult (if not impossible) to modify after the divorce is final, so getting it right the first time is a must!

Live in Oklahoma...had a good job with no high school diploma, worked for twelve years and worked my way up making 2600 per month. Married for second time in Aug. of 05. I worked for the first year and a half that we were married, then husband said i could quit job to go to RN school. Been going for a year. Have two years left. Have been accepted into RN program beginnig in Aug. 08. Husband suddenly wants a divorce. Now that I am going to school full time with ZERO income. I am thinking maybe I could get rehabilitative spousal support to enable me to finish school. Oh yeah, i have two children still at home, that are mine only. Any one have any ideas or suggestions? There is NO way I could get another job here paying what I was making before I quit my job.

You have been married for less than 3 years. Your chances of alimony beyond the divorce are slim.

On the bright side, nursing is a good field to get into. And in high demand in certain areas. I would check out if it is in high demand in your area. If it is, then you may be able to get a hospital to pay for most of your schooling. My cousin got $10k of her RN schooling paid for by a hospital. All she had to do was work there for a year.

It's something worth looking into. Maybe between a part-time job and tuition assistance if you can get it, you will be able to swing it.

At my local hospitals, if you work any job full time (such as a CNA, which only requres 1 month of school), you get a $2500 stipend for education per year, every year, as long as you take classes in the medical field.
