hi everyone, i am new to this so i am not sure what to expect. my question is i am seperated and preparing myself for the big "D". can anyone tell me if i will be able to get alimony from my wife? she has pretty much always made more than me. that hasn't been a concern in the past but now it will certainly effect the way i live if i have to pay child support of which i am almost certain. thanks.
I dont think it matters if its the man or women, as long as one is a dependant, the other is intittled to some support. I think in Florida you have to be married for 10yrs before alamony. Double check with a lawyer just to be safe. I wish you well.
thanks for the input. i feel like i am being selfish, but she is going to take everything we have ever worked for and i will have to pay child support, so to even the playing field i guess i should look out for myself.
If your getting a divorce then why should you expect your x to support your living a certain life style? Don't you think you should look at making a life of your own with your own resources? Generally in Florida they look at spousal support as a crutch to gain better skills to be able to support yourself, such as going to school or learning a trade. Not to give you the life you've grown accustomed to. If you have both worked I doubt you will get it.
