26 year marriage kids 23, 19 10 I gave up my carreer to stay home with kids for probably 20 of the married years i have jut recently gotten back to the work force. am i entitled to alimony and to keep my home ..i just found out about an affair 3 days ago and it looks like things are unrepairable i don't know where to start or where to go please can anyone advise

Do your research, talk to others you know who have gone through this. Find a good lawyer...set up appointments and meet with more then one until you find the one that you feel will be able to handle your situation.
…..I took copies of my last paycheck, my husbands last paycheck, a list of assets and debts, and a BIG list of questions when I interviewed my lawyer.
I also made sure I had copies of any and all financial documents…401K, Bank statements, car titles, life insurance policies, outstanding bills etc. – You will need all of these things. I was able to keep my costs down with my lawyer by providing her with all of these copies that cost me about $20 to make at Office Max. I also went through that house and property and took pictures of everything.
One more thing, keep a journal/calendar. Things that happen now, you won’t remember 6months from now and you might need to refer back. This was how I kept track of the time my stbx spent with the kids, when child support payments (Check# and amount) were made and when negative events took place, and their effects on me and my children.
Keep your chin up; this could be a long process.
If you file first, before your husband, set up a temporary needs hearing ASAP!
A temporary needs hearing will temporary settle issues like who the custodial parent will be, child support, a visitation schedule if needed, making sure payments are still being made on your mortgage or other large bills that an upset spouse, out of spite, might refuse to pay. These are all things that you need to talk to a lawyer about.
If you are the custodial parent, you will receive child support according to the Florida Child Support guidelines. Your lawyer can figure this out for you.
Remember things could get ugly, but if you can keep an open line of good communication during this process it will be in the best interest of you and your children.
As soon as you file, in the state of Florida you a required to take the Children First course. It’s a 4-hour course. Some of the information is a no brainer, but it is good information.

an added notation... if you go for a consultation with a lawyer, he/she cannot later represent the stbx, no matter what. if money is a little flexible, i'd pay consultation fees on some of the better ones just so he can't use them. you may learn more, and that certainly can't hurt. it's a little dirty, but it's legal. only you can decide if this is a good financial choice. this is the biggest monetary decision of your life. educate and protect yourself.
