Here's the thing, EZ: in the world we live in, like it or not, there are a lot of people who assume that a woman should be primary caregiver just because of her plumbing. and whether it's an unfair stereotype or not, there are a lot of men who seem happy to allow that to happen, worrying only about their child support bills being too high.
The best way to combat these awful and ridiculous stereotypes is with education, letting people see the truth, the fact that men these days really WANT to help with the homework & are NOT as inept as Mr. Mom when handling the daily chores involved in parent-hood. It's important to let people, particularly the ones who seem to ahve the odd impression that women deserve primary parening just because of their plumbing, that there are a whole lot of reasons out there for doing things otherwise, and reasons why doing a more equal time proposition is better for the children in the long run.
There are people whose agendas are obvious and fixed and they cannot learn something new, but for the ones who are open to new ways of thinking, being short or nasty about it or sarcastic doesn't really help.
Im saying that if you have a more complete and detailed answer, without engaging the more closed minds on the forum in a sparring match over it... giving your story about why you want more parenting time and more parenting responsibility might help.
Wow, you really don't read a person's history, do you?
>>>>>>>>>> I read her question and understand it , DO YOU ?
The FATHER in this case is CHOOSING not to have that much to do with HIS CHILD.
>>>>>>>>>> and that HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HER QUESTION .
She's trying to understand why a father would do that. Hence the question.
>>>>>>>>>> NO . Read-ing Com-pre-hen-sion . She's asking why some men want MORE time like most don't .She then lists a bunch of nefarious reasons like getting back at the mother and paying less CS before finally asking if it's really because they love the kids .
I am not surprised that you would try to turn it into a gender issue.
>>>>>>>>>> Duh , stereotyping by gender is SEXIST .
Allow me to change the gender in your post from mother to father and see how you'd feel if the question was asked of you .
I've seen some women posting on here that they want sole custody. Can I ask what are your reasons for this? Do you want your ex to be less involved with your children? Are you concerned with the environment your ex is providing for them? Do you want the most child support? Is it pay back at your ex? Combination of things? Just can't live without their little faces in your life?
This reply was my exact thought.....why?
....because they are a parent that WANTS to be a parent maybe???
