In many instances, I think it could LEAD to a sexless marriage (i.e., some women 'settle for' a good guy after going through some 'bad guys', but not because of a need/want for sexual fulfillment, but rather for financial security - hence sex is put on the backburner).

Yes, when it is said 'bad boys, thugs, players' (and other euphamisms) that usually constitutes the alpha-male type. As the article alluded to it is an evolutionary survival trait more than anything else that has been held over into modern day.
A marriage, that is, until she decides that she has given him enough of her time and is now ready for her money. She then divorces him, gets CS, alimony, "community property" and the house. Her old boyfriend then moves back in with her and everybody is once again happy--except, of course, the poor "good guy" who was foolish enough to believe in "love" and unaware of the way that politicians and judges had set him up!
