Oh, by the way, I just got back from Walmart armed with 2 cans of paint, 2 cans of deck stain, paintbruhes, and more masks. Watch out!!!

No, she offered a meal, money, etc. Told her I wasn't helping her for anything other than "Paying It Forward".
I did accept water and her offer to pray my "divorce hell" would end soon.
boobaby,
Please be careful...hope no ladder is involved in these projects. Don't understand the need for "paintbrushes"?? Seems to me, with the materials you purchased, the "Amazing, Multi-Functional Swiffer" would work just fine!!!
Please keep us posted on the projects, and Thank God for fewer steps!!! Damn, I am really sore...but in a Good Way!!!

all i can say is if scarlett were alive and kicking today the infamous *carrot speech* would be a little different.
as in.. as god is my witness i will NEVER be wihtout a yardman again. if thought i could put on my curtains and find me a man right now i'd be outta the door in a heartbeat... (tho i probably should take a shower first.)
i'd go on but i'm too hot and bothered. and not in a good way!

Gotta keep this thread on page 1. boobaby bought paint and deck stain the other day (AND surgical masks). Need to hear about those projects after she tackles them, or any other person's humorous home maintenance story!!!
This thread has been my source of laughter (that has been missing for a LONG time).

Well, I moved the gunshot pool this weekend. My son helped (did most of the work because after a couple of hours of yanking and grunting I thought I was going to fall over from exhaustion!). Anyway, I live in a part of Texas where it rarely rains, most days are somewhere around 100, and it is really dry!!! In back of my house is a huge carport that you could probably fit four cars under. So, I had this BRILLIANT idea that I would put the pool half under the carport and half out, that way you could swim in the sun, or if you were getting too much sun, you could swim out of the sun. Great idea, right? So what has happened? It has rained and rained and rained. And guess what, every time it rains water rushes down the carport and puts all the dirt, pecan shells and leaves right into the pool. So, after trying to clean out dirt every day for the last two weeks or so, I moved it completely under the carport. Doesn't leave much room for the table and chairs in the shade, but at least I won't be cleaning the pool every second of my free time any more (okay, well, maybe not every second, but it was A LOT). So far today I have been trying to convince my co-workers that I did not get beat up over the weekend, that I was just moving the pool and that is what caused all the bruises and scrapes. And obviously I am getting old, because I'm 44 and my back is killing me!!! PS - the pool is still leaking though. Maybe I will get that fixed this weekend *sigh*

Rev, Haven't been able to do any painting or staining because it rains every darn day for the last couple of weeks. Just when I think,ok, this is the day, nope, another thunderstorm hits. So instead I am using my trusty mop to clean off the darn mold thats been growing on my house, my driveway, my patio, etc. Yep, mold growing everywhere. Pretty soon it will be growing on me. I did try to do some scraping yesterday and got a little too much into it because I ended up scraping off the caulking on the window area. I thought, wow, this is coming off in a nice big thin piece. Oh oh, now I have a big space between window and wall. Need to go buy a caulking gun now. AAAAARRRRRHHHH!!!!

Again, hope you are OK. Thanks for the laughter!!!

boobaby,
Don't forget to get the caulking when you get the caulking gun. That "space" will not be good during thunderstorms. It could cause more mold, and I'm guessing the "Fabulous Swiffer" would not fit in that space (depending upon how much was "peeled out").
Again, thanks for the smiles and laughter. I have been kinda "down" for a few days. Feel so much better when I laugh.

Glad you are smiling again. I will definately make sure I get the caulking for the gun (good thing you mentioned that cuz I would never have thought of it). I pretty much took out all the caulking before I knew what I was doing so I have a lot to fill in. Never have done this before either so should be interesting.

When you get the caulking gun, I suggest you wear gloves because when you smooth the caulk down with your finger (without gloves) then you will spend many hours trying to peel the dried stuff off your skin (just trust me on this, okay?)?
