Dear God boobaby, you either have to stop so I don't die from laughing or start getting your stories published!!!
Maybe you should only do "interior" projects? (Have a feeling you have stories there too...where did you learn to describe things in such a damn funny way???).

Ok, Ok, I'll stop (for now) off to watch some tv.
I guess thats the teacher in me. I teach Kindergarten and first grade so maybe its the little kid coming out in me. I don't know. Or maybe its all this free time I have on my hands now that I am on summer break. Could tell you a million more stories but don't want you to pee your pants too much more.

boobaby,
Pee all done now. Shower and change of pants (threw the pee pants out!!!).
Thank you for making me laugh. It has been a rough couple weeks (actually, a REALLY rough 11+ months, but God you got my mind off all of my stress!!!).
Damn, it's been almost a year and I can't even cook anything but pasta and frozen food (unless there's a grill involved, in which case I'll do a "throw-down" against Bobby Flay!!!).
Thank you.

Guys, This was great reading. I also was laughing so much I was crying.
Citygirl setting up horse shoes, a cousin to saw horses, was the one which got me.
And then, the trimming of doors, cleaning gutters, playing with POWER tools, the noodles and plumbing pipes, etc, etc.....
You guys were killing me, thats why I am doing some extra work as: www.budthehandyman.com
I sure do meet alot of single women with similar experiences!!!!!!!!!
What can I say?????
Best of luck to you ladies!!!!!!!!!
Bud

I have COMPLETE respect for men's work. It's hard, takes skill and a lot of strength that women don't have. Thankfully, I've had a few handy boyfriends that did tons of things in my home for me.
Ha! I can totally relate to the sawing of the door. I did the EXACT same thing, except I placed the door on an old kitchen cabinet on my driveway. Man, is that hard! I came out with a crooked edge as well. Thank God it's on the bottom.
The reason I had the cabinet in my driveway? Well, I decided to rid myself of "Seinfeld cabinets." -The ones that hang from the ceiling between two rooms. You know--where it's impossible to carry on a conversation because all you see is a headless body?
Yeah, THAT was interesting...trying to get that behemoth down, esp. when it's still connected to the other cabinets. I swear I'd have lost half my body if I were an inch closer to that monstrosity when the last screw let go.
And...have you ever sawed a couch in half in your house? It was the couch that my X spent many an hour on. I couldn't get it around the corner and into the garage so I cut it up with a circular saw. Oh yes...THAT was fun, esp. hitting wires.
I can also relate to the bonfire story. One windy day, I had so much to burn that I accidentally caught the big oak tree on fire. It was only the bark, but my hose was currently lent to the neighbor's bricklayer. I had to sprint over there and snatch it. Thank God there wasn't too much damage.
So guys, it's hats off to you. You really do do a lot of things that go unnoticed. From the lawn mowing to the mulch/stone...
OMG! That reminds me. I have a long curvy driveway, halfway through is a backup area. It needed new gravel so I went to the gravel place. Against the salesperson's advice, I chose the pretty, larger, more colorful, rounder rocks. Yeah, that was a BIG mistake. Every car that backed in there didn't come out. Yeah, I'll listen to the salespeople from now on. Ya think?
Ok, that's it for now.

Sarah,
OMG!!! So funny.
The "hits" just keep on comin'!!! (As does the laughter I have so desperately needed).
This thread contains some of the most hilarious stories I have ever read or heard!!! You ladies are downright hysterical (now it's off to throw away another pair of "pee pants" for me!!!).

WOW!!! This post has been so funny. I guess I have lucked out since I have not had to do any 'man's work'. I do have a cockeyed mailbox (somebody hit it) and a coffee table that dances - needs some screws. My toolbox is a picnic basket with a hammer and screwdriver thanks to a special friend of mine. I have mowed the yard but that was mindless!! I do have a broken dishwasher but since I am renting I am not too concerned about it. I admire you ladies for tackling the big jobs. I guess I am a wimp!!

"my" toolbox is an egg carton containing some scotch tape and a pair of tweesers.

I like this thread.
And I agree. Man's work is tough. I know. I've had to do it long enough.
No one knows quite how to scalp a lawn like I do. I like to mow it down real low so I don't have to mow it again for a while. Athough round brown swirls appear about 3 hours after the scalping, I'm pleased with the result.
Since separation I have installed blinds onto woodwork, I have installed a whole new handle fitting onto a door that I'd waited a year for the ex to fix. (I did kind of round off the screws and they didn't sit flush, but the door had a new handle and it worked. All that matters.)
I have fixed the waste disposal twice. (That was gross.)
I put out the garbage. I do little fixer upper jobs all around my house. I repaint trims. And most of all...
I AM EQUIPPED.
I own a sander and an electric drill. Just this week, I bought a new set of drill bits. (And bent one like a spaghetti first time I used it.)
I have a really nice little tool kit too. Just for man's work. It's a black zippered tool bag with nice PINK trims. Inside it are a bunch of tools, ALL with lovely soft PINK handles to them. Pliers and pincers, screwdrivers and ratchets. All with pink handles.
Good, PINK HANDLED TOOLS for my man's work.
Wanna borrow them HK? Revenge?
Ummmm....we do have a service here called "Have Weener / Will Travel" that can handle that kinda stuff for you.
Our rates are EXTREMELY reasonable.
Good at replacing front porch steps? That's my project for this week-end.
That is, if I can get that dam* middle step off, it hasn't been co-operating. And some of the nails are in too deep to pull out.
And when my cousin mentioned a leveler, I just looked at her funny. And then went out and bought one. Should be an interesting week-end. I had Lowe's cut the wood to the sizes I needed and got a new drill. So everthing is ready to go. And should go fairly quickly once I get that step off.
Did I mention that I had to call my then stbx the first time I mowed the lawn to find out how to start the lawnmower?
