Hi,
My husband and I have been married for 10 years and we have 2 young boys ages 3 and 7. Things have been pretty rough from the beginning. He is a cop and is very unaffectionate. At the beginning of April he came to me and told me he was unhappy and has been for 11 years and was trying to figure a way to make things fair for me and the kids. I am 31 and he is 45, so I tried to play it off as a mid life crisis. Things have not gotten any better, but now he tells me to get out of "his" house and leave "his" car. I still live with him but we do not speak to each other other than when we have to. He says he feels sorry for the boys and it will tear them apart. I do not know how much more of his threatening I can put up with as far as everything being his. About 2 weeks ago he told me I was nothing but a piece of shit! Even if he wanted to work things out, I don't know if I can ever get over the things he has said to me. I feel like he thinks he can do or say whatever because he is a cop. I was thinking about going and staying with my parents, but I am scared that will be considered abandonment. Any advice from anyone?

I would try to stay in the home with the boys as long as you can. If both of your names is on the home then you have every right to be there. If you find it unbearable to stay there, just make sure you take the boys with you. If he doesn't want them to leave the house then stay and go talk to a lawyer.

Thanks! The boys are going with me where ever I go. Although, he is unhappy he has threatened to get temporary custody of the boys. I am not sure how he could do that when he can't even take care of them now without having to call me to find out what to do. Plus my family even heard him say to me at family dinner that I was the one who wanted the kids and I can take care of them! Why does this have to be so difficult!

It just is. Mine is horrible right now. I left and didn't take my boys with me and I regret not staying in the house. My boys are older than yours and I didn't want to take them from the only home they know. My only advice for you is to stay where your boys are!!!!
