I hate to sound like a walking advertisement, but for the newbies and others who haven't heard me talk about it, do yourself a favor and look into meetup.com. Separation/divorce is a horrible time to be alone. Meetup.com offers a great way to meet folks with common interests (hiking, cooking, movies, scrabble, singles, etc). I can't guarantee your town will have any groups but if not, start one. I've found that in a lot of cases, many of the groups consist of folks that have gone through divorce as well, so not only do you get to enjoy an activity but you also meet some people you can talk to about this as well. Just last weekend I tubed the James River with about 60 folks. Tuesday I'm going to go see a movie with about 15 others and Wednesday I'm doing dinner with some folks as well.
