I am a combat veteran suffering from severe PTSD. My home life has too much drama and my wife has made no effort to learn about my disability nor does she show the interest to. Her nagging and constant bitching makes it difficult to have any peace. I want out fast. What grounds do I have to file for divorce? Even the doctors tell me this environment is not healthy for me.

You don't need to prove fault in order to divorce as GA has nofault provisions based on the marriage being "irretrievably broken" . If you insist on fault grounds , mental crueltry may be an option but be prepared to prove it .

First of all, THANK YOU FOR SERVING. My family and I are extremely grateful for your service. It is not right that you have to deal with this condition, and an unsupportive wife on top of that. I am SO sorry for this crud you have to deal with....

I don't blame you AT ALL for wanting out. you NEED support during this. How dare she give up on you.

In Georgia your PTSD would count as a fault based divorce, meaning it could be a bit more difficult. You have to prove the PTSD, which may be easy with your medical records. However, if she contests, that would make it more difficult.

Does she know? Is she contesting or on board with your decision to divorce?

Pamela

Ditto.. We owe you men in uniform who risk their lives for America.. BIG TIME .Your wife has no idea how you need time to recover. I had a friend twice who went Iraq ..Ist time was ok. because ge didn't know what to expect. .2nd time he was terrified..He had brand new troops who propbably couldn't cover their butts let alone anyone else..This was 2 year ago and he's just starting to come out of it..He was so different when he came back...but he had support and you deserve it too..have your wife look at these forums..maybe she will see how much we are proud of you and she should feel the same.. Yes coming home is hard..thats why you work on it..together and with help. God Bless you and your service to the American People..
