Wife's Personal Debt

Hello:

When is one party to a divorce not liable or responsible for the other party's debt.......at the time when the parties separate and establish separate residences or when the judge enters the decree of dissolution? We are both residents of Minnesota and the petition was recently filed here. Can anyone help?

Story: I filed for divorce on May 8th, 2008. 10 days later my wife hired an attorney and paid her fee with a credit card of mine I forgot she had. That's it and I'm stuck with the bill

Often, you would be required to split that card. Does your ex have a decent job? That's what it will take to make her 100% responsble.
