I'm about to go through the whole divorce thing and I would like to know how quick can this process go. My wife and I both agree to a No Fault divorce and I was hoping if we could just go to the court house, fill out the paper work and be through with it. I just would like to know the cost, how long it will take and that's it.
My attorney said that he could have it done in 30-45 days after we've both signed. He said most of that time was coordinating with the courthouse and judge.
Thanks for that...but I would also like to know the cost as well. My wife and I just realized that we just wasn't the right person for each other and we figured we could get this done without having to pay for a lawyer
I totally understand where you are. Wanting to get it done as fast as possible...Just be sure not to rush the divorce, you know? Make sure everything is agreed upon and accounted for. This may take some extra time but it will save you TONS of time and stress later on.
I do know a no fault divorce does take longer or actually can be more difficult than a fault based divorce. The times all depend on the state you are in. Some states have specific rules, whereas others allow for speedy divorces. Here's a link to state laws that may help you, it should tell you what your state's rules are and maybe even give you an approximate timeline: http://document-do-it-yourself-service.com/divorce_laws/state_divorce_laws.html Hang in there, LS
