Leaving the State

Can anyone tell me the probability of leaving the state WITH the children if a job transfer requires it? My ex tries to control me and my career by using the children. He hasn't been a parent in over 5 1/2 years but because I want to leave, he is taking me to court to re-enforce the residence restriction. Can anyone offer any advice?
