Hi I'm new here and was hoping I can get some suggestions, I really need to find a reasonable/great attorney fast. I want to file for divorce immediatly. My husband has moved out of our house (and has taken some stuff) we have 2 kids and he's basically abandoned us. I have been a stay at home mom for the past almost 2 years and because he left I went out and got a job but he has left me with all the bills. Our house payment (rental) is due in 2 weeks and I have no clue how I am going to pay it, all our other household bills are due, I barely have enough money to feed our kids. He won't speak to me on the phone, he sends me nasty text messages calling me names and telling me he will not see me or the kids. He says he wants nothing to do with the kids because they "remind him of me" I just started my new job yesterday (making crap money) I have school 4 nights a week in which he used to watch them and now I have no idea who will watch them. I had to skip class last night (and I had a test!) because he refused to watch his own children.

So like I said I have almost no money, I need an attorney that will work with me and possibly go after him for the costs. I can probably borrow $500 from my mom (she lives out of state) but that would probably be the most I could get.

Please if anyone knows of an attorney or anyone who can help please let me know right away. I've tried legal aid, good luck getting a human being on the phone and someone who will actually call you back. That is just a dead end street. :(

Not sure what county you live in. But I would try legal aid again, most likely they will be the best bet. From going through my own divorce I can tell you $500.00 will most likely not be enough to hire an attorney. Most attorney's want a big retainer fee and that is just the beginning of the charges. I paid $3,500.00 just for the retainer fee.
