Does anyone know how long you have to be married in Maryland to be able to get support if you divorce?

There is no set time limit in Maryland. You can request alimony and child support no matter the length of time you were married.
Maryland law states that in an uncontested divorce, both parties must agree to the support and since most spouses are working, alimony (if awarded at all), is usually for a shorter period of time, and smaller amount than in the past.
For child support, if the parents are unable to agree to an amount there are guidelines that determine the amount of support based on the Maryland Child Support Guidelines.
