Finally have mediation hearing set. My question is this: If everything is agreed upon at the mediation does that mean no more hearings? No more anything? Everything is over? Or what? I am so confused and attorney is not answering that one question. I dont want to set my head up for something that wont happen but I dont want to go in thinking it's just another step and get slammed into a wall with everything being over. I have been going through this for 8 months of his mind games and I want my freedom. Is it actually coming to an end?
If all your issues are agreed upon in mediation, then the next step will be for the atny to draft up the documenation and both parties sign. Those documents will be filed with the court and then yes, it will be over. Unless either party decides to reopen an issue at a later date. But, this usually only happens with cases of custody...and the courts tend to stay with the status quo, unless there is a change in circumstance.
My mediation agreement was drafted by the mediator and signed before we even left. His attorney then filed it with the court. We never even had to go to court for the final hearing.
