i live in ohio, i was wondering, is it possible for me to go to my county clerk, obtain the divorce papers i need, fill them out and file them, without a having to hire a lawyer. there is no property to be divided, and child custody has already been established 2 yrs. ago. we have not lived together in over 4 yrs. i just want it over and done with as quickly, simply and as inexpensive as possible. oh yeah my intended ex resides in New York. HELP!!
Have you looked at the Ohio section of divorcesupport.com, i.e., the web site as opposed to the forum? There are many good resources there.
With the (ex)spouse living out of state and children involved, I would get an attorney. It may be as simple as filling out the paperwork, but it's worth the extra money for the attorney to make sure that everything is done correctly.
I gather that he is voluntarily paying child support? If so, and even if a pattern has been established, protect yourself and make sure the payments are court ordered.
