I have been with my boyfriend for a year now. He was married in Georgia and has been separated over 7 years and has been living in a different state for that entire time. His wife deserted him and they do not have any children together. He says he can't get a divorce. First he says that she won't sign the papers and he can't get it finalized. To me this does not seem that difficult. If she really doesn't want to sign, but he has been gone for over 7 years, won't the judge just grant them a divorce? Does she really need to sign? And if so, who decides the property division? I want to eventually marry this man and I have a 5 year old son. I don't want to continue to live with a man who is still married and to me, does not appear to be in a big rush to get a divorce from the first gal. I want to find out the facts so I can confront him with them. Can anyone enlighten me on what a judge does in this situation?
