Child Support

My wife (her doing) and I are in the process of getting a divorce. She hasn't filed yet, but I was wondering what I'm looking at as far as child support. We have two small kids (1st & 3rd graders). If we come up with an amount ourselves that's fair, does this still have to go to court to decide?
