Hello, How it worked for myself was my lawyer took my income(which I'm on permanent disability) but had worked for 15 years until I was injured, and my "X's" income and combined them and split it 50/50, same with our retiremenets. Our divorce was different because we never seperated until our home was sold and then we had to split all of our debt 50/50. I was divorced in Vermont. Sue
