I reside in Illinois.
My plan is to get a no-fault divorce.
Does my wife have the ability to fight this method of divorce? I only want this over as quickly and painlessly as possible but one can never forsee what will happen and knows what a spouse is capable of.

Hi, unhappy guy.
I also live in IL and I do believe that a spouse can contest "no fault" unfortunately...

I LIVE IN ILLINOIS ALSO, AND I HAVE FILED FOR DIVORCE BECAUSE MY HUSBAND TOLD ME HE WANT OUT OF OUR MARRIAGE. IT HAS BEEN A MONTH & HE HAS COUNTER FILED. ILLINOIS IS A NO FAULT STATE. I COULD NOT FILE ON ADULTRY, I HAD TO FILE ON EXTREME MENTAL CRUITLY W/ ABONDOMENT. SOUNDS HARSH, BUT IT IS WHAT MY ATTORNEY ADVISED ME TO DO. IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN INVOLVED I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT YOU SEEK FAMILY COUNSELING. WE WERE COURT ORDERED BECAUSE WE COULD NOT AGREE ON ANYTHING. NOT SURE WHAT YOUR CURCUMSTANCES ARE FOR WANTING THE DIVORCE, BUT GOOD LUCK EITHER WAY. IT IS A LONG EXPENSIVE ROAD. ON BOTH SIDES. MY HUSBAND WANTED TO USE A MUTUAL ATTORNEY & HAVE A QUICK AND PAINLESS DIVORCE. I AM HERE TO TELL YOU THAT THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A PAINLESS DIVORCE. WE HAVE BOTH SPENT OVER $2000 AND WE HAVEN'T MADE IT TO COURT FOR THE DIVORCE PART YET. ONLY TEMPORARY ISSUES. I HAVE HAD SO MUCH ADVICE FROM SO MANY PEOPLE, BUT THE MOST USEFUL ADVICE I HAVE BEEN GIVEN WAS THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO COMPROMISE MYSELF INORDER TO PLEASE SOMEONE ELSE.
COMING FROM THE ONE THAT WANTED TO SAVE THE MARRIAGE, THERE IS PAIN EVERY TIME YOU SEE THE PERSON THAT WALKED OUT ON YOU.
