I have some questions about the divorce process for an "uncontested" divorce in michigan. Any help is greatly appreciated :).
I will be shortly filing a so called "uncontested divorce" and plan to represent myself. I have seen in some sources that in an uncontested divorce in Michigan, a hearing is often not neccessary. However other sources have indicated that the plaintiff in an uncontested divorce must appear at the hearing.
Is it always necessary for the plaintiff to attend a hearing in an uncontested divorce?
How far ahead of time will I be informed of the hearing? I have read that sometimes you get a date right away after filing the Answer and Waiver. If not, how much notice will I have before attending the hearing?
Do I have to file proof that I served my spouse with a Notice Of Hearing Document even if they have filed the Answer and Waiver? If so, how much time do I have to file proof of service?
