I have a question that hopefully someone will be able to help with. I am currently going through a divorce with my husband. I am doing the divorce myself (with help from Legal Aid) I have been married to my husband for 6 years and have 1 child with him whom is almost 5. My husband has not seen our daughter since she was about a few months old. (we have not been together since she was born) I am in a current relationship with someone since she was 6 months old. My daughter doesnt know that my boyfriend isnt her daddy. ( I also have 2 other children with my bf) My bf has provided for her. My husband is currently serving a 2-3 year sentence in Prison for Criminal Impersonation (what a winner huh) and he also has fathered 8 children (that we know about, there could be more) Anyway my question is what rights do I have to terminate his rights and have my bf adopt her.? And can he adopt her with out us being married. And is it possible to get her last name changed to his.... Sorry this is so long hopefully someone can help. Thanks for taking the time to read and hopefully respond....
The only way your bf can adopt is if the father agrues to give up all rights to his child and then not for sure but think the two of you will have to get married before they will allow him to adopt. Hope this helps alittle.
