Is anyone else even registered on this forum for South Carolina? I'm interested in hearing of cases involving long term marriages where wife stayed home with children; husband makes $120K ... how did judge rule for alimony for the wife?

Having gotten divorced in SC recently I can tell you that the more I know, the less I know. Divorce is confusing for the layperson!

My wife & I seperated almost 3 years ago. In SC alimony is usually only granted when one partner (usually the woman) had a traditional role like mother, caregiver, etc,. Or if inifidelty can be proven. I have no clue what the guidelines say you are entitled to. I'd recommend contacting a lawyer for a free initial consultation.

Best of luck to you anyway!

D

I am in the process of divorce in SC. I make in the 80's. I have a child that is 12 who is not my wife's although she helped raise him since he was 1. At the temporary hearing in march she was awarded 900 per mth and I also have to pay her house payment in the town she moved back to.I would love to hear from others on this issue. I don't feel that this is fair. She was working when we seperarted but quit to move back home. She has not gone back to work yet( I wonder why)? Divorce in SC is not fair!!!!!!

Yea, not fair to the person that is trying to do the best. Child support is not set to have the children live in a decent standard of living.
