New to the board here, so hello to all! I have a question. Yesterday I was granted my divorce after 4.5 LONG grulling years of trying. The ex didnt show up, cause he was sitting in jail in a different state. My attorney told me that the judge wont sign off on this for 5 days cause it gives the ex time to review and object to the judges ruling. WHAT? What happens in a case like this? What if the ex doesnt agree with what the judge said? Which I know he wont. The only thing I have to hope for is that the ex doesnt recieve the papers within the 5 days...Please advise here plz! Have any of you heard this before? My attorney told me not to worry, but I am worried, VERY worried!
Listen to your attorney. The five days is a formality. They can only argue against things with formal motions, etc. which sound like they would not go well with your judge after that long.
Thank you for your quick responce. That made me feel somewhat better! I just want the judge to sign my papers and forget about this nightmare! And yes, 4.5 is a bit redicolous for a divorce.
