Must one wait 90 days for a decree in Iowa. Our there circumstances that warrant a faster decree from the court? If so could you give some examples.
Thank you,

Bob

This is the link to the Iowa Code stating the 90 day waiting period, plus what would warrant a faster decree. Hope this helps.

Be very thankful it's only 90 days! I'm going on two years and still no divorce.

I agree, I also filed for divorce July of 2005, as of yet I have not recieved a court date even. My lawyer keeps giving me the run around and my ex is not paying for anything as far as support goes. I have two children and he has not so much as given them spending money even when they are with him. I don't have any idea what the hold up is but it is crazy.

You can file for divorce at the Dominican Republic, because this is a no contest divorce the process is easy, accepted in the United States and only takes 4 weeks. Check this:

If you are going to court there must me a great deal of assets and children involved. I thought Iowa hammered it out between lawyers or your looking at a $10,000 divorce.

I just had a court date of January 16th finally today was supposed to be it and he filed for another continuence on the date which will be another six months I would bet. Yes there are children involved and I filed for joint custody myself as primary care giver... He will not accept that so I am fighting it. He has never cared for his children physically and since I moved out a year ago he has not even so much as given them money for clothes, school sign up, extra activities etc... I did finally take him to court on temporary matters and it was ordered then a week at a time 200.00 per month child support but he still does not pay for 1/2 of their needs... That was in October and he did not even start taking them 1 week at a time until December 30th, 2007. I am assuming his lawyer told him to start, and as far as the cost of the divorce as of right now I have spent 5,500.00 and received nothing. Crock! I was even stupid enough at Christmas time, he asked if he could go 1/2 on presents for the kids so me being the nice person that I am I agreed, he came over Christmas morning to watch them open gifts and guess what he didn't pay me. Taxes last year he withheld from me for 10 months, this year I filed separate and with me head of household, I'm sure this will start world war 3 but he forced this. Its a nightmare!
