sexual relations during divorce

I'm going through a tough time and need some advice. My husband and I have decided to file for divorce. I am also in counseling for sexual abuse that occurred during childhood. Because this issue is so sensitive and brings up many disturbing memories, we decided to abstain from sex until I felt ready. Well, during counseling is when we came to the conclusion that this marriage is unrepairable. Here is my problem. My husband has asked to resume marital relations until the divorce is final. Setting aside the fact that I CAN'T do that, how do the courts see sex during marriage? Does it affect property, or delay the divorce? Any help would be appreciated.

Generally it does not matter. One minor exception is New York where you can technically expedite a divorce is you can show that you've not recently had sex (with each other).

How you treat each other during marriage in the bedroom and elsewhere has little bearing on property division.

In Michigan in only affects the case if there has been an affair. If one party has an affair and admits it to the other, and eventually they have sex the affair is seen as forgiven. Generally, it is pretty hard to prove someone had sex unless a child was born.
