Are lawyers the same in every state? I thought they are suppose to work for YOU and assist you in a divorce. Not continue to manipulate you and penny and nickel you to death. I'm on my third lawyer. Separated for almost three years. The first lawyer skipped town with my money. Have no idea where he is. My second lawyer the judge forced to step down because he wasn't working in my best interest. The judge also made my stbx's lawyer do the same. Playing games and costing unnecessary problems. This third lawyer is still the same. Talking with my stbx's lawyer about the case. Letting her know everything before trial. Shouldn't she consult with me first? My stbx always has his head in the sand. Now that his lawyer realizes that that my stbx will be liable for some of the debt (hasn't paid a dime on the marital debt) he wants to file bankruptcy. It has to be done before the divorce is final. The property division is scheduled in beginning of April. Also the divorce will be done then. I just don't understand all these games. When I listen to the lawyers, it sounds like a game to them. This is my life and it makes me very angry. I want to move forward with my children. I can't until this is completed. I wanted to file a petition to have the divorce completed before the property division, but my lawyer advised me not to. My stbx is on my health insurance. Why aren't there stricter laws regarding lawyers behaviors and actions?
