travel across state line?

Hi all,
Ex is giving me a hard time about taking my 7 year daughter with me to visit a friend's family across state lines (40 minute ride from NJ to PA) saying I have to inform her and get her consent everytime I want to do this. I feel this would be ridiculous since I have multiple friends in PA and I work in PA but live in NJ. I thought I read somewhere that I have to inform her only if I was planning on staying overnight across state lines with my daughter. She has primary custody and we have joint legal custody. Parenting time is split almost evenly (53% hers, 47% with me).
Comments, thoughts appreciated.

Cheers,
Noble
