After a three-year, brutal divorce, my soon-to-be ex and I have been through the final hearing process and I could not have been more shocked and depressed with the outcome. A quick run-down of the facts going into the final hearing.
The home that my wife and I lived in has been in my family since the early 1950s.
My name and my Mother’s name were the only names on the deed.
Wife’s name was never on the deed.
All renovation on home prior to and during marriage was performed by me.
Mortgage and taxes were paid out of an account separate from the marital account.
Married for a little over seven years.
Wife worked throughout marriage.
My wife and I have one child and we worked in shifts: I watched my daughter evenings (5:15 pm and thereon) and weekends and my wife watched her during the day.
Wife had an affair during marriage and I saw a woman after we decided the marriage was over.
Wife left home and left me with all of the marital debt
Wife cancelled health insurance in 2005 (during separation) without informing me, resulting in $12,000 of hospital debt.

What’s shocking is the judge’s decision and his use of discretion. His decision is as follows:
Found that wife would receive a third of appreciation on home. This decision could have gone either way and I understand that. Apparently, my wife could have been in a coma and she would still have received a third of appreciation. Did not entertain cases discussing passive appreciation.
Awarded wife alimony despite her working throughout marriage, her youth and good health.
Awarded wife custody of child despite judge finding both parents fit and our continued joint custody agreement--which worked well--during separation.
Awarded wife retroactive child support, which is only about four month since I started paying support during our separation. Gave me one month to make payment for the retroactive amount.
Awarded wife expenses incurred in her decision to move out of home. Expenses came to $5,000.00.
Ordered that I pay a portion of wife’s legal expenses.
Ordered that I pay wife approximately $68,000.00 within two years.
Left me, without question, destitute.

I’m certainly not Donald Trump as the judge could have quickly realized since he had my financial affidavit.
