=========================================================== Doesn't matter. Anything acquired during a marriage is a marital asset. And rightfully so. ===========================================================
Could you please explain, briefly, to me why this is the case? It seems to me that such a radical concept as this, which could require a party to a marriage to STOP WORKING if he no longer wished to work one-half for the benefit of his spouse, would essentially turn him into a slave-- unless he were also willing to stop eating--as long as he remained married (no work=no food). Wouldn't such a person, then, have to choose betweenn slavery and divorce, with all of the ramificatiions of this to the children? Do we have slavery in this country today? Under yout view of marital property law should we have slavery, rather than destroy families? The above assumes that the party in question is happy to care for his spouse and children, but just doesn't want his pay to be sent, effectively, one-half directly to his spouse!
