Not sure where you live but in my state (Washington) it is a no-fault state so we are doing a mediated divorce - one attorney for the both us and we decided ahead of time how to split stuff up. She just makes sure everything is written up in the correct legal language for the court. We are also seeing a financial planner. It is working for us and if you make at apt. with a collaborative law attorney they will tell you whether or not it is right for you two.
