Divorce Support Forums: advice needed

Any one know a way to ask the ex- to pay for her part of childrens braces. No child support changes hands since one of her two children she is suppose to have residential custody of but has been living with us for 1 1.5 yr now. I don't want to piss her off but our youngest (my bio son) has a medical condition that has been newly diagnosed and will require medical visits and mediciation and we just don't have the money to pay for her sons braces - so without her help they won't get done and that's not fair to him since his older brother got his this last year. We paid for all of the down payment - she was suppose to reimburse us but hasn't sent anything to date. I don't want to be the mean one but a medical condition comes first before braces and if I have to make the call I will but this is something I shouldn't have to call - she just just pay her part.
