three copies no signature

my boyfriend and i are trying to qualify for a mortage his ex wife who cheated as a means of ending relationship has sent three copies of dissolution papers over course of last year all bear his signature as did first copy but none have hers can someone tell me the easiest way to find out if hes divorced or not so we can figure out what to do next marriage ended in may 06 or thats when they ceased to reside together so is it automatically done? just need some help and apperciate it poh it was in alabama thanx again
