Attorneys are like contractors. They have a tendancy to take on more work than they can get done promptly. The urgent stuff gets done. The other stuff is left age to the point where it becomes urgent.
Don't be shy about creating a sense of urgency for your attorney. Don't be shy about calling frequently to follow-up. Three times in a month is nothing. Three times in a week might start to be effective.
You can look for a different attorney. The ones who are not so overcommited are usually much less competent, much more expensive or aren't taking new clients.
