Jerry,

I am Tabitha White, Author of Child Support Federally Mandated. You can get a free copy of my book by sending me an e-mail at: ChildSupportFederallyMandated@hotmail.com

You are a prime example of what my book strives to do - create a system that is fair for all. If I were in your shoes I would contact an Attorney or Legal Aid if you have no financial means and ask for a modification of orders.

My personal child support case was in the Macomb County Friend of the Court. I can tell you in that court they like the fathers, especially those who are involved in their children's lives. See if you can get a change of venue? It is worth a shot. Don't give up though, never give up.

For the book I interviewed over 40,000 custodial and non-custodial parents all across the U.S. This was the biggest complaint I found - there was not 'one fair unified system' in place. I spoke with two construction co-workers, in Michigan. Keep in mind both men made the same amount of money and worked for the same company, both one child, one man paid $450 per month and the other paid $200. This is completely unfair! The problem parents told me, "Is the judges discretionary factor." There should be 'one' system in place for all of the U.S. to abide by, no deviations allowed. Just think of all of the hassles it would cut out. It would probably have taken care of your issue already. As it sounds like your ex is gouging you.

Divorce and custody matters are not fun, they ultimately wreak havoc on our once quiet lives. Pursue justice though, Jerry, never give up.

Respectfully, Tabitha White,
