=========================================================== The chances of an award post-divorce in a short term marrige is slim to none unless one party is incapable of supporting themselves . ===========================================================
Why should anyone receive alimony, even in a "short term" marriage, simply because they are incapable of supporting themselves? If the other party was guilty of breaking the marriage vows or was responsible for the inability of the party in question to support themselves, then perhaps they should have to pay alimony or damages; otherwise, this is just another example of the stupidity in high places which has gotten this country imto the mess it is in.
If the corollary of this nonsense is that someone should have to pay alimony, in a "long term" marriage, even if the other party IS capable of supporting themselves, then my above comment about stupidity is doubly valid. I guess they (politicians and the judiciary) will never get it until people like the OP simply sit down, tell them they won't "serve" anymore, and that they can all go to blazes. Perhaps then they will start to THINK for a change!
BTW, I hope the OP is fond of dry, hot climates with 125 degree temperatures (in the shade), unpredictable incoming, sand vipers and IED's!
