Can someone answer this question? A friend of mine is divorcing her husband. She wants to change her name back to her maiden name. She has been told by friends that this will cost her money? Does anyone know if this is true?
>>>>>>>>>> It's not true .
§ 704. Divorced person may resume prior name.
(a) General rule.- Any person who is divorced from the bonds of matrimony may resume any prior surname used by him or her by filing a written notice to such effect in the office of the clerk of the court in which the decree of divorce was entered, showing the caption and docket number of the proceeding in divorce.
Can she start to use her maiden name before she changes it back legally? She lives in Pennsylvania.
>>>>>>>>>>> Yes , informally , she must still use her married name on all legal documents .
