This book will focus on the rights each spouse has under certain laws, situations, and circumstances, and how the division of the property will be decided by the court or through negotiation.
My (disabled, psychiatric) X decided that she was entitled to 50% of the value of my father's and grandfather's firearms (some of which are really quite valuable, not to mention treasured by me). So, I notified my attorney that I would burn in the firey pits of hell before I gave the X a DIME for "her half" of the value of my grandfathers Model 1894 Winchester.
Somehow, the issue was then dropped, by HER attorney. [/quote]
i found this (unconfirmed) article about PA's inheritances
The Divorce Code provides that all property acquired by either spouse during the marriage, with certain exceptions like gifts and inherited property, is marital property, regardless of in whose name the property is held. It should be noted that the increase in value during the marriage of gifts, inherited property, and premarital property which remain in party's name, will also be considered marital.
and as far as advice, i take in all and toss out what i dont think is true or applies to me. I just only see me as having 3 issues and no 'real' assets monetarily. So hiding things overseas or in other states is meaningless advice for my particular circumstance.
advice on the alimony/house/pension is really what i'm gonna be sunk for. As well as household items of course. But the fact is i could 'give her' large sized items from this house and she would never be able to take them even. She knows 100% for sure that keeping stuff in storage ruins things as she has her other stuff in storage for years after her 1st hubby. So i could even argue why keep stuff you know will rot and wont fit in a trailer? Of course it may help keep down my contribution to give her the stuff or sell it.
overriding all this is the gall she had to think she could get half the stuff that i had before she even came into my life. She doesnt believe that that is mine and mine alone. UGH
